It's been incredible to watch this election. The range of emotions that has been in the veins of this process has been like a drama show on tv. And now that it's over so many people shed tears, celebrated or felt some peace at the fact that it was finally over.
How are you feeling? I'm personally celebrating it's over and that we can move on. You see I realized that ultimately it's up to you to determine what the outcome of YOUR life is after this election. No man, woman or other has that power. They may be able to control high level elements of your environment, but at the end of the day isn't it what you do with what ya got? In the The Ted Talk "the happy secret to better work", Shawn Anchor says:“It’s not necessarily reality that shapes us but the lens through which your brain views the world that shapes your reality. IF we can change the lens not only can we change your happiness we can change every single education and business outcome at the same time.” - Shawn Achor There's a story I like to tell that I heard years ago about how the children of India are the happiest. Why? Because they revel at any small thing that is given to them or that they see in their lives and appreciate even the sunrise every morning. Give them a fresh banana and watch them light up because many of the poor have to rummage through garbage to have even a spoiled quarter of banana. It's all relative. See what I'm getting at? People have often been called entitled in this country. That they want everything their way or its the highway. Yes indeed there are many like this. And now in the wake of the results how are you going to lead your life. Will you expect things to be thrown on your lap, will you expect things 'your way, right away' as the slogan goes. Will you expect the opposite and for your life to be controlled and pushed downhill by the elected or your boss or other people in your life? OR will you get up, put your big lady/man pants on and Go get it? That's what this election has taught me. That no matter who's in charge, I AM in fact in charge of my life. That no matter what decisions around me are made, I AM the one who controls how I take things and what I do with it and where my life goes. I AM. I have never been MORE motivated to take action to live my most authentic life than now. I have never been MORE excited for the outcome of the next 4 years. For 1, I just don't see this authority lasting very long in a world where people are shifting so rapidly and taking off that veil of victimhood. The new president is merely a mirror of what we think we need... someone who speaks their mind (no matter how crazy), takes control (no matter how erratic), and takes a drastic stand (no matter how far fetched). It's what we want for our own lives right? But we don't need to be a saved by any leader. WE can save our own damn selves! I've had 3 major pivot points in my life where I had a choice. I could let depression, vampire people, and environmental factors control what my life's outcome would be. OR I could follow my soul, my intuition, my powerful self and take a stand. Most are run by fear, and most time the fears don't come true. I took the stand. Will you? I URGE YOU, to see yourself, your life and how you are living it right now. Stop giving away your power, stop blaming others, stop blaming circumstances, stop giving away your God-given strength. I for one am NOT standing by the wayside and watching the world crumble. NO. We have so much we can do to help ourselves, our communities, and our environment. I'm watching the leaders who can talk about that NOW. I'm finding my tribe that can unite now. I'm looking for those that can truly take this and run to make our lives better and not sink into despair. I'm committed. You with me? OWN IT. OWN your power.
